How the 2017 Mercedes-Benz C-Class Was Updated

For the 2017 model year, Mercedes-Benz made several key updates to the C-Class lineup, including a newly standard rearview camera and some adjustments to the exterior paint choices. You can now configure your C-Class with a Brilliant Blue Metallic or Selenite Gray Metallic exterior. The ordering process is now easier as well, thanks to adjustments in the packages and options. Now, you will find four different premium packages as well as the Leather Seating Package, which is also new. This system makes the customization process for your C-Class much simpler and less confusing.

You also get plenty of familiar features in the 2017 C-Class, resulting in a well-rounded and stylish vehicle. The interior features a flowing design, and it is the most refined and most spacious C-Class in the model’s history. All controls are within easy reach. In addition to the C 300 with its 241-horsepower engine, there is a plug-in hybrid, the C 350e, for those in search of greater efficiency.

History of the C-Class

When Mercedes-Benz introduced the 1982 C-Class, this compact sedan targeted drivers in search of a midrange vehicle. It has always been an innovator and the first model had a fully encapsulated diesel engine known for its quiet nature and high-performance variations. Its successor, known as the 202 series, stood out with its surprisingly spacious interior and supercharged technology. It was this 202 series that first had the C-Class name; the original model was just known as the 201 series. The 1994 C-Class let you choose from an engine with 4 or 6 cylinders, and the generation began with between 148 and 194 horsepower, with output increasing throughout the generation. This model was also packed with safety features, including emergency brake assistance, stability control, and side airbags. They also had all the luxury features drivers wanted from a Mercedes-Benz. The first C-Class AMG® model debuted in 1995 with the name C 36. This model had a V6 engine with 268 horsepower, while the 1998 C 43 had a 4.3-liter V8 with 302 horses.

The second generation of the Mercedes-Benz C-Class arrived in 2001 and quickly expanded in options. It began with the 168-horsepower C 240 and the 215-horsepower C 320 sedans but was soon joined by a supercharged C 230 Kompressor hatchback coupe, a C 320 wagon, and a 349-horsepower C 32 AMG®. 4MATIC® all-wheel drive became an option in 2003 and a supercharged 230 sedan, C 240 wagon, and C 320 hatchback coupe were all added, with a 362-horsepower C 55 AMG® following in 2005. There was a major overhaul in 2006 that included reshuffling the trims and getting rid of hatchback coupes and wagons. The 2008 C-Class began the more recent generation that you are likely to see on the road around you with a C 300 Luxury, C 300 Sport, C 350 Sport, and high-performance C 63.
